2022 American Advertising Awards

Each year, the High Road Agency (HRA) participates in the American Advertising Federation (AAF) American Advertising Awards, which honor the best in local advertising and cultivate the industry’s highest creative standards. The AAF Southwest Virginia event took place Saturday, March 4, and the agency scored three awards, including the prestigious Best of Show honor in the Film and Video category.

The Best of Show award was for a video that was produced for Friends of Southwest Virginia, entitled “What If? Southwest Virginia.” Digital Designer Justin Slone created it as a social media piece that featured dozens of photos from Southwest Virginia based on the theme of “If SWVA Was A…” Images that were included were based on if Southwest Virginia was a color, a feeling, a season, etc. The popular video also earned a coveted Gold ADDY.

Friends of SWVA Executive Director Kim Davis said the video was a tremendous success.

“This video was able to highlight our mission of sustaining the creative and natural assets in Southwest Virginia,“ she said. “We are happy we were able to use our partnership with High Road Agency to tell this story in a way that was able to capture the aesthetic for social media.”

“Although this video was less than 30 seconds long, we were able to pack it full of beautiful natural assets, promote our cultural heritage in Southwest Virginia, and draw attention to our ‘Virginia is for Lovers’ state tagline on tourism. Social media is an essential tool for tourism marketing. We are happy our partners saw our vision to create a product that captured attention and hopefully encouraged people to visit us.”

HRA also brought home a Silver Addy in the Sale and Marketing Collateral Material category for a brochure designed by HRA Creative Director Katie Westbooks for Floyd County, Va. The striking pamphlet, which serves as a welcome to Floyd County for visitors, highlights the area’s top focal points and is filled with gorgeous photos and information about the area. It also features a ‘gate-fold,” which produces a beautiful landscape across the bottom of the brochure when it is opened.

Thanks so much to everyone at the High Road Agency who had a role in earning these prestigious awards and adding to our extensive collection of ADDY honors!
