As for what 2016 will bring for Google when it comes to searches, we can all only wonder; but when it comes to marketing, we have a few ideas.
Mobile-friendly websites, apps, and mobile friendly ads are no longer “nice to have,” they’re absolute necessity. According to eMarketer, an estimated 2 billion people worldwide will own a smartphone. Perhaps the youngest generation is the most tech-savvy yet, with over 85% of Millennials owning a smartphone according to Nielson. Entrepreneur said that this year, more people used mobile search than web search in 10 different countries. Mobile use is still on the rise, and that won’t change in 2016.
Have you begun to notice that the ads on social media are more fitting for your lifestyle? That’s because they’re targeted specifically to you. Instead of an increase in the number of advertisements created, marketers have started creating ads specific to one small demographic at a time. Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all advertising. When you see an advertisement now, chances are, it applies directly to you. It’s a growing market too, and according to a blog on Hootsuite, “By 2017, social media ads may account for a full 16 percent of all digital ad spend globally.”
If you think you’ve been seeing more videos lately, you have. According to an article by Forbes, “By 2019, it has been predicted that 80 percent of all Internet traffic will be to videos. That figure would be 64 percent higher than 2014 … and a significant portion of the growth will probably occur in 2016.” So, what does that mean for marketing? Simply, it means that branded videos will be on the rise in 2016. Never heard of it? A branded video is a video created for a brand that is often entertaining but contains a call-to-action for that brand. Video not only engages users to interact with your brand, it forms a relationship with your audience. Look out for lots of videos in 2016!
