A few days ago, my husband and I got into one of our “marital debates” about what year a song was produced. We of course had the initial historical facts and “what we were doing the first time we heard it” evidence to back it up. Of course, after that banter proved to be ineffective, the debate turned into one of our typical “Google Fact Check” me battles. I, of course found out I was wrong. (As per usual about music with him, but SHHHHH don’t tell him I said that.) This time I started thinking…what was the world like without Google?

I am 27 years old. I am a millennial (even though, I will NOT openly admit that in public…ever). I did grow up before the internet became easily accessible and still remember the God awful sound of dial-up trying to connect, but we now live in a time where the entire World Wide Web is literally at our fingertips whenever we want it to be.

What would the world be like if Google crashed for a month? I don’t even want to think about the hoops I would have to jump through to attempt to prove my husband wrong. But, then…would I? How would he know, for a fact, that I was incorrect without “Google Fact Checking” me? I would be making numerous trips to the library, I guess.

This theory got my mind wondering of course to the world of marketing, especially digitally.
