The High Road team has recently partnered with Touch A Life, a nonprofit developing creative ways to bring healing and empowerment to kids who are suffering, exploited, and at-risk around the world. The team currently cares for children in Ghana, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
Touch A Life focuses on providing the kids with holistic, individualized, long-term care with the goal of leading them to live independently as adults. Providing a safe, family environment with structured education gives these kids a better chance at thriving as adults. At Touch A Life, the kids may enter the care center at all different learning levels; therefore, they provide different education structures for each kid that enters the program. Many of the older kids have entered the program without any form of education. For these kids, Touch A Life has alternative entrepreneurial programs and their Life Academy, where the kids can learn different trades and general life skills to apply in their home community.
In September, a team from High Road will be traveling to Accra and Kumasi, Ghana to spend time with the kids at the Touch A Life facilities. Please keep the team in your thoughts and prayers during our journey. We are collecting the following items to bring with us to the kids and caregivers in Ghana:
- Crocs, or similar sandals
- Backpacks, traditional or drawstring
- Fingernail clippers
- Chapstick
- Hardshell gum and hard candy
- Swiss army knives
